Noviembre - Donde El Mar Retrocede
THIS IS A PRE-ORDER - TO BE SHIPPED AUGUST 5th 2026.
“How many times do we lose our way only to end up in a better place?” is a mantra that perfectly defines Noviembre’s progression from its beginnings back in 2022 to the present day. Always striving for the next step, the band from the Sierra de Madrid presents its new album, “Donde El Mar Retrocede,” featuring 13 tracks that elevate and expand upon the themes of their debut album, “Cercovivo.”
While its predecessor was a more down-to-earth record, “Donde El Mar Retrocede” draws on the water cycle to nourish the ideas already present on the previous LP. Tears, rain, a river that yields to the immensity of the sea, and a flame that cannot be extinguished: the flame of continuing to make sad and angry music. Sincere and forceful. Serious, but not too much so. Sergio, David, Raúl, and Morán have focused their efforts on reflecting on all those times when we are not only victims but also perpetrators, thus steering clear of the self-indulgent drift typical of emotional hardcore. Finding our place in a hostile world, fearing isolation, death, and the exhaustion of daily life—yet still always finding reasons to love and to care—are some of the central themes of a second album that has been in the works for three years.
At the production helm, Noviembre once again teams up with Víctor Saíz and Esther Martínez at California Studios who have been involved in both the technical and creative aspects of the album. Drawing on influences from alternative rock and the international midwest emo scene, Noviembre has refined its sonic formula, carefully crafting melancholic atmospheres, heart-wrenching lyrics, and more experimental rhythms that may bring to mind bands like Microwave, Balance and Composure, Citizen, or Turnover.
