SOFT SPOT (formerly known as FERMIUM) are Benito (Der Ringer) & Lukas (Ashes of Pompeii). Despite all their efforts, under their new name they still find themselves in the same airless, claustrophobic space between hardcore, black metal, and doom that they explored under their old name.

As guest vocalists, Nadine (RAUCHEN) and Annika (GLAZA), good friends of the band, share the work on the mic.

The vocalists are changing now, but the situation remains depressing, so there is nothing else to do but continue to write against it.

The world wants peace, quiet and tranquility — but in the current world situation, no one is getting what they want, and so the debut album produced by Jack Shirley (DeaIheaven, Loma Prieta) with a track called “Silence,” which, despite its rather unambiguous name, foists paranoid drone soundscapes on the listener instead of silence. The other song titles speak for themselves and paint a reality in dark gray areas — life as an endless scroll through swamps of hateful reels and toxic comment sections.

And yet SOFT SPOT keep their eyes wide open, taking everything in. With "I Don't Want to Live the Wrong Life and Then Die," the album ends not in despair, but in the dark suspicion that there was once something there — a memory that can and must remain alive even in the age of techno-fascism.
